Founded in Newcastle Upon Tyne in 2019, Alpha Delta Brewing have quickly taken the UK brewing scene by storm. The brewery was founded by Ross Holland, who with a little help from his old man Steve, built the brewery from nothing. Initially setting up shop in the family garage.
Ross has previous experience in the brewing industry, originally a part of the team behind Anarchy Brew Co, he then ran Box Social on Forth Street in Newcastle, a popular spot for craft beer aficionados in the North East.
Alpha Delta focus on big beers, both in terms of flavour profile and ABV and have become synonymous with brewing some of the most hop-forward pales and IPAs going. In 2020 they set tongues wagging when they were named in the top ten best new breweries in the world by RateBeer.com. They were immediately thrust into the industry spotlight and have continued to deliver ever since.
This year we selected Alpha Delta to be part of our Ones To Watch case. The response we received from the lucky few that got to try their beer was deafening. So much so, for tonight’s beer we have Hera, in what might be one of the quickest graduations from Ones to Watch to BeerBods tastings we’ve ever had.
Like all of Alpha Delta’s beers, Hera was originally brewed as a one off. It’s been so popular over the last 6 months or so that it’s since become their flagship and first core range pale ale. Brewed with southern hemisphere hops, Hera epitomises everything Alpha Delta are about. Boatloads of tropical, citrus and stone fruit notes are balanced against a silky smooth, full body and low bitterness in this super smashable pale ale.
