Based out of Silverdale, Auckland, New Zealand, Deep Creek Brewery have been making sessionable yet complex beers since 2011. Founded by old pals Jarred MacLachlan, Paul Brown and Scott Taylor, the brewery started life in MacLachlan’s garage, where he and Paul would brew initially just for family and friends.
This hobby quickly became an obsession, and the demand for Deep Creek beer grew to a point where they needed to find a way to brew and serve customers on a commercial scale.
Teaming up with Scott Taylor, a man with a wealth of hospitality experience, the trio created their brewpub ‘home’ in Browns Bay, as an avenue to sell their wares. At the time, they were the only brewery/brewpub on the North Shore, and have paved the way for many to follow.
A production brewery soon followed and the awards began to roll in. First on a local scale and then internationally, winning high praise with craft beer drinkers across Australia and South East Asia. The successes of the brewery have meant exporting even further afield has now become a reality with Deep Creek beers arriving on these shores for the first time.
For this week’s BeerBods Plus we’ve been lucky enough to get our hands on Haze, one of Deep Creek’s flagship and most popular beers. All the juiciness of a Hazy IPAs but much more sessionable! Haze is well balanced, with low bitterness and is seriously easy drinking. Huge aromas and flavours of Stonefruit, Citrus and Mango from those juicy New Zealand hops.
