TWBBP Flying Dog Bloodline BeerBods Plus Beer

Bloodline by Flying Dog Brewery

Orange Ale, 7%

A blood orange ale that defies genre. Hops for the hop-heads. Fruit for the rest. Sweet blood orange puree is added toward the end of fermentation to balance the citrusy sharpness of the hops and deliver a hard-charging ABV to keep the good times rolling.

The Story

Chances are you have heard of Flying Dog Brewery, the brainchild of old friends and co-founders George Stranahan and Richard McIntyre. Now based out of Maryland, USA, the brewery started life as a single Brewpub in Aspen in 1990. It was the first brewery in the area for over 100 years and quickly grew beyond capacity.

By 1994 Flying Dog had expanded operations, opening a 30 barrel brew plant in Denver, Colorado. In 2006 they moved again, to their now HQ in Maryland where they quickly became the largest brewery in the state. Fast forward to present, Flying Dog are the 28th largest brewery in America and sell their wares across much of the globe.

Rsz Flying Dog

They’ve made a name for themselves for producing beers on the wackier end of the craft beer spectrum. This paired with their truly unique label art has helped them to develop a glowing reputation from critics and punters alike

For tonight’s BeerBods Plus we have Bloodline, a blood orange ale that defies genre. Hops for the hop-heads. Fruit for the rest. Sweet blood orange puree is added toward the end of fermentation to balance the citrusy sharpness of the hops and deliver a hard-charging ABV to keep the good times rolling.
