Founded by pals Alan, Alex and Nathan back in 2012, Green Duck Beer Co are based in Stourbridge in the West Midlands and produce a range of approachable, easy-drinking, hop-forward beers.
Green Duck’s creation was inspired by Alan’s tours of breweries in the US, but it was with the help of Nathan and an accomplished homebrewer, Alex, that the dream was realised.
“We formed in 2012 and produce most of our beer into cask, with the rest going to keg, bottle and cans. We're all about producing beers that are approachable and easy drinking for everyone. In the last 3 years, we've doubled our capacity twice over to keep up with you thirsty lot and have invested heavily on improving our process and practises”
After producing cask beers almost exclusively for 8 years, Green duck made their first foray into can last year after a joint crowdfunding effort with Coventry legends and friends of BeerBods, Twisted Barrel Ale allowed them to acquire a canning line that they now share. The subsequent beers have been incredibly well received and have allowed Green Duck to continue to expand and sell their wares further afield.
Many of Green Duck’s brews are inspired by beers found across the pond, and that inspiration is reflected in the ingredients they use…
“We use some English hops but not often. Hops are like the countries they are grown in. American hops are big and brash, and English hops are casual and laid back. We prefer the former.”
American hops take centre stage once again in tonight’s beer, Remedy. This stunning session IPA combes British Maris otter malt with American Mosaic and Simcoe hops in a riot of blueberry, tangerine, papaya and stone fruit.
