Gweilo beer have only recently arrived in the UK but are already making noise (and beer) that is hard to ignore.
The brewery is owned and run by Ian and Emily Jebbitt, and their friend Joseph Gould who are all originally from the UK and relocated to Hong Kong where the brewery launched in July 2015. Since then they’ve been on a mission to bring their beer to the masses.
“Gweilo hails from Hong Kong, and just like the streets of our city, our beers are bright, exciting and inviting. But while we keep things light and breezy, make no mistake: we’re sticklers for quality. From our packaging to our processes, we maintain exceptionally high standards – because at the end of the day, we want to do our very best for you, and make every Gweilo experience great.”
Having already found their way to a number of countries across the globe, Gweilo finally arrived in the UK in February of this year, teaming up with friends of Beerbods Vocation Brewery and using their state art Hebden Bridge facility to brew their core range of beers.
“We are super excited about the unique partnership we have forged with Vocation in the UK, and can’t wait for people to try our flagship core range beers. We hope the people of the UK appreciate our beers and embrace them as a new favourite – if they don’t, my dad has a lot of beer to drink.”
For tonight’s beer we have Tropical Lager. A hybrid of something between a pale and a lager, this light-bodied brew delivers with tropical fruit notes and a clean, refreshing finish. Ekuanot hops provide aromas of papaya and lime and subtle bitterness that lingers on the palate.
