Hertog Jan is one of the oldest and perhaps most popular breweries in The Netherlands. Most revered for its pièce de resistance, the crown jewel of the brewery and tonight’s BeerBods Plus beer: Grand Prestige
Brewed by Arcense, and garnering an almost cult-like following over the years, Grand Prestige is a Quadrupel-type beer produced using the finest raw ingredients. Like any great wine, this beer has been brewed to be aged, to allow the flavours and aromas to develop complexity over time.
On pouring, the beer stands out instantly for its magnificent brown colour with ruby highlights that sits beneath a generous, albeit short-lasting, head. The bouquet gives off superb aromas of plums and banana, followed rapidly by spicy notes. On the palate, Grand prestige is round and full-bodied with beautiful flavours of dried fruit. To put it simply, this is one of the best Quadrupel’s you’ll likely ever drink and a fitting beer to finish on as we say goodbye to Beerbods Plus for a while.
