Founded in September 2016 by John and Gerry Tiner, Salcombe Brewery was 35 years in the making. After countless fun filled family holidays to Salcombe, John and Gerry decided to upsticks and move to area and follow their lifelong dream of running a brewery they could call their own.
You can find the state of the art brewhouse nestled in the Devon countryside with views towards the Salcombe Estuary. The brewhouse is a unique concept, built on the site of a decommissioned water reservoir which utilises the natural ambient temperature of the underground facility, for storing Salcombe’s beers at perfect conditioning temperature. The site also has its own borehole which is capable of supplying the brewery with its own source of pure Devonian water.
The surrounding coastal environment is hugely important to Salcombe and is reflected in the beers they brew and their seahorse branding. The Salcombe Estuary is one of the few places in the UK you can find the rarer of the two species of seahorse.
Recently Salcombe partnered with The Seahorse Trust to raise funds to support these endangered creatures by donating 5p of every bottle or can of Seahorse (their flagship amber ale) sold to this fantastic cause. Constantly improving their sustainability credentials is a core objective for the team and as part of this ambition, they have eliminated all plastic from our packaging.
For tonight’s beer, we have Salcombe Pilsner. The beer uses the finest British malt and has a delicate floral and herbal aroma, derived from the noble Czech and German hops. Crisp, clean and refreshing with subtle hints of spice.
